Thailand Overseas Promotion – Creating New Opportunities for International Collaboration: Event Report

International Cooperation Promotion by the Alliance: Chulalongkorn University × iGroup × Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand

From October 23 to 28, 2025, the Alliance carried out an overseas promotion trip to Thailand, visiting member company iGroup (Asia Pacific) Ltd., a multinational enterprise with operations across Thailand, Hong Kong, Singapore, the United States, Australia, and Japan. iGroup focuses on online electronic resources, including educational children’s books, e-journals, and patents.
During the trip, the Alliance organized a “Collaboration Model between University Scholars and SMEs in Taiwan: Tarflow Workshop” at Chulalongkorn University, introducing participants to the Alliance’s core technology, Tarflow.
Finally, the delegation met with representatives from the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand to discuss strategies for international marketing promotion.

The iGroup team shared insights into their business operations in Thailand and the current status of AI applications, including text and image detection, old book OCR processing, and metadata completion using LLMs. Their main products include igpublishing AI Search, AI Summary, AI Quiz, AI BookBuddy, and the educational platform Mangosteem.
They also introduced tools developed to support academic research, such as EssayRead and Imacheck, an image plagiarism detection system.
During the meeting, Prof. Huang offered perspectives from both a researcher’s and an educator’s viewpoint, discussing the challenges and potential of AI applications in academic research and education.

The workshop aimed to introduce the Tarflow platform to faculty members and doctoral students of Chulalongkorn University’s CUTIP program. Since CUTIP focuses on technological innovation, many attendees had extensive industry experience, making this event an important step in promoting the Alliance’s internationalization through the introduction of Tarflow to Thailand’s academic and industrial sectors. The event received enthusiastic responses and discussions.

The workshop covered fundamental concepts of text mining and guided participants through hands-on exercises using Tarflow for visualized text analysis. Participants practiced data preprocessing, word frequency analysis, sentiment analysis, and topic exploration.
Through practical exercises, they experienced the complete process—from data cleaning, word segmentation, and stop-word removal to generating word clouds and performing sentiment detection.
The session concluded with a demonstration of how Tarflow integrates Large Language Models (LLMs) to automate annotation and enhance text understanding, helping enterprises make more effective data-driven decisions.

The delegation was received by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand. Discussions focused on promoting the internationalization of Taiwan’s academic and research capabilities and expanding the industry-academia collaboration model.
The Alliance introduced the GLORIA (Global Research & Industry Alliance) initiative and shared cooperation results with iGroup, including supporting 15 Taiwanese professors in international marketing and video production to enhance global visibility and connections.


Conclusion

This overseas promotion in Thailand demonstrated the Alliance’s proactive efforts to advance international industry-academia collaboration and successfully showcased the practical value of the Tarflow text analysis platform to international partners.
Through academic exchange with Chulalongkorn University, business engagement with iGroup, and discussions with the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in Thailand, the Alliance expanded its global cooperation network, laying a solid foundation for future cross-border R&D and international promotion.
