2025 Chatbot Builder Workshop: Event Recap

Date: Friday, July 18, 2025 (13:00–16:00)
Venue: Room CM4069, College of Management, National Sun Yat-sen University

This workshop marked the first technical workshop hosted by the Text Mining and Digital Transformation Service Industry-Academia Alliance. Participants included alliance enterprise members, academic members, and individuals interested in hands-on chatbot development. To support first-time attendees, the workshop provided on-site teaching assistants who offered real-time guidance and troubleshooting throughout the session.

The event was opened by Professor San-Yih Hwang, the alliance director, who emphasized the importance of embracing digitalization and the rise of generative AI. In line with these trends, the alliance launched this first technical workshop titled “Chatbot Builder Workshop”, offering participants a hands-on experience with AI tools beyond the alliance’s existing Tarflow platform.

The workshop was led by Chia-Ming Chang and Yi-Hang Tsai, two Ph.D. students from Professor Hwang’s team. The first half featured Chang’s presentation on “Generative AI × Enterprise Applications: Practical Guide to Dify”, followed by Tsai’s session on “Hands-on Practice: Building a Custom Knowledge Assistant”. Each section included interactive practice, with both speakers also serving as workshop assistants to help participants resolve operational issues on the spot.

The workshop covered Dify’s core functions, such as its visual workflow builder, support for multiple models, and integration with Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) systems. Participants built AI assistants for intelligent invoice recognition and internal knowledge-based Q&A, learning to construct chatflows, connect to databases and knowledge sources, and use third-party tools to export structured outputs.

The event received enthusiastic feedback, with attendees expressing high interest in no-code AI tools and successfully building prototypes for enterprise applications. The closing Q&A session and feedback survey gathered valuable suggestions, which will inform future alliance activities.

Entering its fourth year, the alliance continues to promote the adoption and exchange of generative AI and text analytics technologies. In addition to regular promotional sessions and hands-on workshops, the alliance is planning its first online international briefing in August, titled “Business Text Analytics Using AI,” as a key step in expanding international visibility.

Furthermore, the third workshop is tentatively scheduled for September 26, focusing on Tarflow Advanced Applications, as a continuation of the introductory workshop held on May 16. The upcoming session will dive deeper into Tarflow’s capabilities in complex data processing, workflow automation, and AI model integration, enabling participants to enhance their practical skills in text analytics.

Details regarding future events and registration will be announced soon. Stay tuned!
