This was the alliance’s third workshop of 2024 for the “Text Mining and Digital Transformation Service Industry-Academia Alliance”—focused on the Tarflow Public Opinion System. Participants included corporate members, academic members, and potential members, with both in-person and online attendance options. Teaching assistants were available to provide guidance, allowing participants to experience the platform’s features firsthand.
The workshop began with opening remarks from Professor Huang San-Yi, the alliance host, who welcomed new corporate and academic members to this third workshop of 2024. Starting with foundational basics for beginners, he introduced the Tarflow Text Analysis Workflow Platform, one of the alliance’s core technologies. This platform enables diverse research analyses and project implementations, providing participants with hands-on experience in utilizing digital tools.
Next, Ph.D. student Chang Chia-Ming from the team led the themed lecture, guiding all participants through three key modules: “Data Preprocessing,” “Advanced Data Processing,” and “Content Analysis.”
The workshop began with an overview of the text analysis platform’s basic functions. Participants were then given exercises aligned with each course module, with teaching assistants available for guidance as needed. By the end of the workshop, participants gained an understanding of the platform’s application, including sentence segmentation, word frequency calculation, task execution results, and word cloud generation.
The workshop also featured lively discussions on integrating the popular OpenAI tools with the text analysis platform. Graduate students who had attended previous workshops brought their research data, conducted relevant operations, and, with the help of teaching assistants, derived results useful for their studies. To conclude, the alliance arranged an interactive Q&A session for participants.
The fourth workshop is planned for the end of November, with a call for alliance members to join and continue supporting the alliance’s efforts.
